Annual Rug Event
Handknotted rugs made by fairly paid adults | Quality You Desire, Fairness Artisans Deserve
Join us for our 2010 Rug Event!
Wednesday, March 17 - Saturday, March 20
Each year, Plowsharing Crafts in the Delmar Loop offers a special 4-day Oriental Rug Event. This annual event features an incredible collection of more than 300 hand-knotted, heirloom-quality rugs made by fairly paid adults in Pakistan.
Since our store is not large enough to carry these rugs year round, we host this special event once a year to bring these high quality, fairly traded rugs to St. Louis from the Main Rug Gallery at Ten Thousand Villages in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. These beautiful, fairly traded rugs represent a win-win situation for all — a high quality, fairly priced, hand-knotted rug for the consumer and a fair-paying, consistent job for artisans.

Fair Trade Produces Quality
Quite simply, when artisans know they receive a fair, living wage for their work, they can focus on their work, focus on creativity, focus on good materials, focus on quality.
Fair trade produces quality, breeds empowerment, fuels creativity and fosters respect and peace.
